While there were no team scores being kept on Saturday, John Curtis walked away with one of the more impressive outings at the Carl Maddox Field House.

The Patriots took home five individual titles and another pair of top-three finishes.

Senior runner Devyn Keith paved the way for the program’s big day, earning top honors in both the 1,600-meter and 800 meters with times of four minutes, 28.79 seconds (4:28.79) and 1:58.03, respectively. He was awarded most outstanding in-state track athlete for the boys.

John Curtis also narrowly edged Catholic High in the boys 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:31.47. The Patriots and Bears would again come down to the home stretch in the 4×400-meter relay with John Curtis coming out on top again.

Devin Savwoir was the Patriots’ only field event winner with a throw of 53 feet, two inches (53-2) in the shot put.

“We’ve got a long way to go, but we’re happy with where how we started,” John Curtis coach Preston Curtis Jr. said. “We’ve got a big task ahead of us, but we’re excited about where we are right now.”
