Boys Team 9th; Troianna Gause 15th in State Cross-Country

BARTHEL PACES BOYS CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM TO 9TH PLACE IN THE STATE

GAUSE FINISHES 15TH IN THE GIRLS COMPETITION.

 

Four juniors and two ninth graders paced the Patriot boys cross-country team to a strong ninth place finish in the LHSAA Class 5A Championships in Natchitoches.  In the girls’ competition, Curtis junior Troianna Gause, turned in an impressive 15th-place finish.

 

Zachery Barthel was the first to cross the finish line for the Curtis boys, placing 32nd in the field of 171 runners in the state’s largest classification.  Barthel went out fast, running 18th in the first mile.  A junior, he finished with a time of 16:50.6 over the three-mile course.

 

Another junior, Denton Young, was 46th.  He was followed by the two ninth graders, Junstin Unger (59th) and Alex Keller (68th).  Juniors Brady Mitchell (82nd) and Chris Matisse (105th) completed the Curtis boys’ effort.

 

Gause was clocked in 20:28.8; 167 girls were in the competition.  Another Curtis junior, Alli Despeaux, took 39th place.
