Six Curtis Players, Coach Named All-District

 

Cade Beloso was named the Most Valuable Player on the 2017 Al-District 9-5A team, selected by a panel; of sports journalists. Beloso, an infielder, was joined on the first team by five of his teammates as well as his coach.

 

Coach Jeff Curtis was named the district coach of the year after guiding his team to the Catholic League and State Championships. Beloso, an infielder, was joined y pitcher Ian Landreneau, catcher Jay Curtis, infielder Brandon Davis, outfielder Dax Ford, and pitcher/outfielder Austin Haensel son the first team.

 

Curtis dominated the team, with six players named.  Rummel was next with 4, followed by Holy Cross, 3; Jesuit, 2; and Brother Martin, Shaw and St. Augustine with 1 each.

Landreneau received an additional accolade when the Advocate’s Rod Walker chose his no-hitter in the state championship game as the best individual performance of the year by a prep athlete.
