“Longest Running Prep Football Police Escort”

In 1979, the John Curtis Christian School’s Football Team began to venture out and seek teams to play and compete with in the likes of Acadiana, Morgan City, Independence, and Ferriday High Schools. By then, John Curtis was building an athletic reputation to be reckoned with, having  two State Championships under their belt and eyeing a third, word in Cajun Country was getting  around. With that in mind, J.T. Curtis thought of the possibility of having a police escort to these destinations.  So with the help of long time assistant, the late Coach Mike Robertson, the Curtis Football Escort was born. The tradition changed faces a few times, but the two in the photo have been escorting the football team for over 35 years, Lieutenant Craig Gardner (Class of ’83) and Detective Howard “Red” Lindsay. On September 1, 2017 Friday Night Football featured them.
