Boys Varsity Baseball · Patriot baseball team takes game 1 in National High School Invitational

Ian Landreneau is well known in and around the state of Louisiana for his fantastic career at John Curtis Christian School. Perhaps, the nation took notice today as he threw a gem, throwing 6 innings, yielding no runs. The defense that played behind Landreneau was sparkling as well making play after play after play. Offensively, the Patriots didn’t do a whole lot, but were very opportunistic and came away with some timely hits against the pitcher from Hanover, Virginia, who is a Virginia signee. The Patriots took the lead when Brandon Davis laced a double down the right field line and Will Ripoll followed with an RBI base hit, both coming with 2 outs. Then, in the sixth inning, Dax Ford drew a big leadoff walk and Logan Stevens drove him in with a double in the left center field gap, scoring Shane Goins, who was pinch running for Ford, from second after Goins stole second base.

With the victory, the Patriots will face one of the toughest and most talented teams in the country in American Heritage, out of Plantation, Florida. Also named the Patriots, American Heritage boasts the 2018 national high school player or the year and has double digit college commitments and/or signees. The game will be played in the main stadium at 1:30 Eastern Standard Time (12:30 Central Standard Time). The game will be live streamed on mlb.com and usabaseball.com. Tune in tomorrow at 12:30 Central time to watch the showdown!
