Boys Varsity Baseball · Patriots drop 11 inning heart breaker 1-0 in NHSI semi-finals

A long ways away from home against the home town Green Hope Falcons, who are located in Cary, North Carolina, the Patriots fought as long as they could but came up a bit short in the semi-final game. The Falcons scored in the bottom of the 11th to advance to the championship game tomorrow. With the loss, the Patriots will play in the 3rd place game tomorrow morning at 8:30 Eastern time/7:30 back home against Calvary Christian, Florida. Calvary Christian boasts one of the best shortstops in the country and the son of Joe Girardi, the former New York Yankee manager.

Dax Ford got the start and toed the rubber for the Patriots and did a phenomenal job tossing seven scoreless innings. Logan Stevens relieved him and was nearly as impressive up until the last inning, the 11th. The Falcons led the 11th off with an inning then bunted the runner to 2nd base before a Falcon hitter ripped a hit up the middle to give the Falcons a walk off. The Patriots had numerous chances to score throughout the game, but all the balls put in play, found gloves, including several hard hit balls.
