Returning home from a great showing in Cary, North Carolina at the National High School Invitational, the Patriots picked right up where they left off before leaving. The Patriots whipped Brother Martin 9-5 Tuesday night at UNO’s Maestri Field. The score may have seemed close, but the Patriots carried a 9-1 lead entering the bottom of the 7th. Ian Landreneau got the win on the mound for the Patriots tossing 6 innings and giving up just one unearned run. The offense was powerful, smashing 14 hits. In all, five Patriots had multi-hit games. They were Dax Ford, Hunter Bufkin, Cade Beloso, Ian Landrenea and Jordin Labruzza. The big blow was Landreneau’s base clearing double in the fifth inning to blow open a tight game at the time.
The Patriots return back into action Friday night when they host the Brother Martin Crusaders at 7:00 PM at Mike Miley Stadium. The school will honor the 1982 state championship team before the game. That team was the first to ever win a baseball state title. The presentation will take place about 10 minutes before first pitch at approximately 6:50. Come see some former Patriots and watch the current team play and get behind the Patriot baseball team!
