Boys Varsity Baseball, Girls Varsity Softball · Patriot baseball and softball teams at the halfway point of their seasons

The Patriot baseball and softball teams are just past the halfway point of their respective seasons. While the baseball team is hovering around .500 (8-9 record) the softball team has enjoyed a great overall record at 16-4. However, the baseball team stands with a 2-1 district record, while two of the team’s four losses have come in district play and stands at 2-2.

The baseball team features just one senior in it’s lineup, Dax Ford. Ford is the leading hitter on the team and has been the best pitcher for the team, as well. The second leading hitter, Collin Guggenheim, got a late start in baseball because of his participation on the basketball team as the team made a run to the quarter-finals of the Division I playoffs. Austin McCready, Logan O’Neill and Michael Curtis have all been feature pitchers on the mound for the Patriots, while also being everyday players at positions and in the lineup. The team is back in action Tuesday night vs. Brother Martin for 7:00 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium in yet another district game. The district is as strong as ever and it is anyone’s district to win.

The softball team features four senior players in it’s lineup everyday. Seniors Rayven Sandras, Bri Neal and Tori Langford all play infield positions for the Patriots. Senior Cameron Goodman and sophomore Sierra Sacco habe been mainstays in the outfield for the Patriots, while Remi Hebert has been the main pitcher in the circle for the team. The team must defeat Chapelle and Dominican to have an opportunity to share the district title. Dominican sits alone the top of the standings, but still must play Mount Carmel and the Patriots one more time each. A win against either will give Dominican the district title. The softball team is back in action Tuesday against Chapelle and will finish the district slate Thursday against Dominican. Dominican faces Mount Carmel on Tuesday. Thursday’s game could be for the district title, if Mount Carmel defeats Dominican on Tuesday.
