Girls Varsity Volleyball · Volleyball team enters back half of schedule playing well

With two state championships and countless appearances in the state tournament, the John Curtis Christian Lady Patriot volleyball team is poised to make a run at both as they enter the back half of their schedule. The team enters Wednesday’s game against Central Catholic of Morgan City with a 20-5 overall record. The team came within a couple of plays of pulling a big time upset of the Cabrini Crescents, who is one of the top ranked teams in the metropolitan area. They have swept through their district schedule, so far, with a perfect 4-0 record. Several big matchups are ahead for the Patriots as they prepare to make a run into the playoffs.

Leading the way for the offense this season is senior CeCe Costanza, who leads the team with 156 kills. Juniors Sierra Sacco is right behind her with 144 kills. Senior Remi Hebert and junior Willow Nelson are tied with 119 kills each. Freshman Jacke Melancon has been coming on strong as of late and is next with 91 kills. This gives the Patriots front row a lot of options and versatility. Junior Danielle Taix leads the team in assists with 503. Seniors Rylee Fabacher and Hebert lead the team in aces with exactly 28 each, followed by junior Zoe Curtis with 27.

Defensively for the Patriots, Costanza leads the team in blocks with 36, followed by Nelson with 20 and Melancon with 16. Fabacher leads the team in digs with 241, followed by Sacco with 204, Taix with 168 and Hebert with 164.

Good luck to the Lady Patriots!
