The John Curtis Christian Lady Patriot volleyball team wasted little time in eliminating the Loyola College Prep Flyers 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs Monday evening. The team won in three games by the scores of 25-7, 25-8 and 25-7. Camryn Costanza led the way offensively for the Patriots with 10 kills, followed by Sierra Sacco and Jacke Melancon with 6 kills each. Remi Hebert added in 5 kills for the Patriot offensive attack. The Patriots were also very dangerous from behind the line logging 27 aces on the night. Sacco led the way with 8 aces, followed by Rylee Fabacher and Danielle Taix with 5 aces each. Taix also added in 23 assists to lead the way offensively for the Patriots.
The Patriots defense was sparking, as well. Leading the way defensively was Sacco with 10 serve receptions followed by Fabacher with 4. Hebert at 7 digs, followed by Morgan Henderson with 4 and Sacco with 4.
With the victory, the Lady Patriots advance to the next round of the playoffs against the 8-seed Academy of the Sacred Heart. First serve will be at 5:30 on Friday. Friday will make for a jam packed athletic day for the Patriot athletic department. The Cross Country teams, both boys and girls, will compete in the Regional meet beginning at 4:30. The volleyball team plays at 5:30 and the football team kicks off at 7:00. The silver lining in all of this is that all of the events will take place near each other. The cross country meet will take place at City Park in Mid-City, while the volleyball game will be played Uptown at Sacred Heart. The football team plays Uptown, as well, at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium. Please make every effort to get behind out athletic department, teams and athletes!
