Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Boys and Girls both finish 12th in cross country state meet!

The John Curtis Christian School boys and girls both entered the state championship cross country meet looking to improve each individual’s times in the last race of the year. Most runners did exactly that on the campus of Northwestern State University where the state championships were held.

First up were the girls. The team finished a very respectable 12th place overall. The girls team made tremendous improvements throughout the course of the year and we are very proud of them. The girls finished ahead of schools like: Airline, Hahnville, Chapelle, Zachary, Slidell and Barbe, amongst others. Considering the Patriots were racing against schools quadruple in size, and only one senior ran in the entire group, the 12th place finish is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to the girls who raced in this event:

Laila Jackson (Soph.)
Madison Reado (Fresh.)
Janell Nixon (Soph.)
Sydney Rivers (Sr.)
Leah Oddo (Fresh.)
Najah Gibson (Soph.)
Cassidy Buchanan (Fresh.)

The boys entered the meet with aspirations to run well, also. They did not disappoint. Coincidentally, the team finished in the exact same place as the girls team, 12th place. The team defeated great schools and programs, like: Zachary, Fountainbleu, Rummel, Dutchtown and Denham Springs, amongst others. The runners who participated in the state meet were:

Justin Unger (18th place overall) (SR)
Alex Keller (21st place overall) (SR)
Dylan Simon (JR)
Landry Graves (Fresh.)
Jonathan Felipe (SR)
Samuel Smith (Fresh.)
Cristobal Molina (Fresh.)
